About

At www.terrykyllo.com, I am gathering together the threads of my work as a pastor, writer, and community leader. This site is a home for my reflections on scripture, public life, and the common good — especially through the lens of the lectionary. I believe that scripture not only speaks to our personal lives but also to the public values we hold in common, the way we treat one another, and the hope we share for a flourishing world.

I am creating this site now because we are living through a season of deep division and distrust. Many people are drawn into false stories — about who belongs, who has value, and where true strength is found. We are in a profound crisis both in terms of the functioning of democracy for a thriving world and Christian Nationalism. These two are a part of each other.

My writing and teaching seek to remind us that God’s story is different: it embraces our full humanity, calls us to mutuality across boundaries, and reveals that love, not domination, is the true power at the heart of creation.

This site is also a way of making my work more accessible. Preachers, leaders, and seekers will find here lectionary reflections, theological themes, and resources for engaging scripture in ways that are faithful, honest, and public-spirited. My hope is to support communities of faith and conscience who want to live their traditions deeply while also honoring and learning from the traditions of others.

Ultimately, www.terrykyllo.com is about trust. Trust in God’s embrace of humanity, trust in our capacity to grow together across difference, and trust that scripture continues to open us to the Spirit’s work of healing, justice, and joy
